Custom Raised Pond Build – Oxford
This raised pond required careful planning and construction to support 750 litres of water. The decking was reinforced to bear the weight, and the pond itself was built from treated sleepers and insulated using high-quality insulation boards. We installed reinforced glass for the two viewing windows, ensuring both durability and aesthetics.
The pond was then lined, and a comprehensive filtration system, including a pump, UV filter, and air pump, was added to maintain a healthy environment for the fish. At the back of the pond, we created a section for aquatic plants, which sit in the water, allowing the top to be covered during the winter months.
We added gravel to the bottom for added stability and to promote a healthy ecosystem, while the plants serve to enrich the water quality and support the fish. To top it off, a bespoke net was designed for easy removal and maintenance, completing the pond’s setup.

Large Raised Pond Build – Oxford
|
This large raised pond was created in Oxford to accommodate 36 baby fish that had outgrown their previous, too-small pond. The structure was built by bolting together treated sleepers, fully insulated and lined, with a viewing window designed for Maisie (the dog) to enjoy the view.
The pond is equipped with a water feature pump, filter system, air pump, and lighting to maintain a healthy aquatic environment. A storage cupboard was added at the back for easy access to the electrics and to store cleaning materials for the filter system. Once the pond was completed, we took additional photos a few months later, showcasing the plants that were added and the installation of a heron fence to keep wildlife at bay. Be sure to check out the video to see the pond in action and try to spot the tiny baby goldfish! With years of experience building ponds and owning them myself, I now not only have the know-how to build them, but also to advise on creating a sustainable ecosystem for fish. |
